The Chairman, Association of Retired State Permanent Secretaries of Nigeria, (ARSPSON), Kwara State Chapter, Prince Suleiman Ayodele Fagbemi, said the association was formed to assist the state government in reengineering the civil service for improved performance and better productivity.
He added that the group was also raised to cater for the welfare of its members, who bowed out after meritorious years in the service.
Fagbemi stated this when he led members of his executive on a courtesy visit to the Chairman, Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed, at the Press Centre, Offa Road, GRA, Ilorin.
He noted that the association was out to offer assistance to the government in the training and retraining of civil servants, who he identified, as the engine room of the service.
In his remarks, the state Chairman of NUJ, Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed, said the formation of the association came at a time of seeming lost of trust and confidence in the civil service, prompting governments at all levels to begin to outsource services.
The NUJ Chairman assured the retired bureaucrats and technocrats of the readiness of journalists in the state to assist in spotlighting their activities.
