Ahead of the resumption of basic school students, Kwara state has reportedly witnessed an increase in the enrollment of pupils into public primary and secondary schools.
Punch reported that the increase in the enrolment of students into public primary and secondary schools in the state was due to the hike in tuition fee caused by the removal of fuel subsidy.
Speaking on the development, an official of Kwara state Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, who pleaded anonymity said the ministry has noticed an upsurge in pupil enrollment in both primary and secondary schools across the state.
The official however noted that the increase in enrolment of students in public primary and secondary schools is noticed because the government operates free basic education in the state.
