Rescue efforts are in full swing in Taiwan after witnessing a devastating seven point four magnitude earthquake that struck the island’s eastern coast, leaving at least nine dead and over eight hundred injured.
The earthquake, the strongest to hit Taiwan in twenty-five years, triggered tsunami alerts in neighboring Japanese and Philippine islands, although they were later retracted.
Rescue operations, particularly focused on freeing seventy-seven people trapped in the Jinwen and Qingshui tunnels, have persisted amidst uncertainty regarding their access to essential supplies and communication.
