Sheffield United faces a challenging start to their upcoming Championship season as they have been hit with a two-point deduction by the English Football League (EFL) for failing to meet payment obligations to other clubs during the previous season.
An independent disciplinary commission of the EFL found Sheffield United guilty of defaulting on payments owed to other clubs, resulting in the imposition of the penalty. The Blades’ financial woes have led to repercussions that will impact their competitive standing as they transition to the Championship.
Additionally, the commission has deferred another two-point deduction until the conclusion of the forthcoming season, with the stipulation that it will only be enforced if Sheffield United fails to rectify their payment issues.
