The Senate has approved the appointment of seven of the nominees of President Tinubu as Resident Electoral Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The nominees approved are Mr Etekamba Umoren from Akwa Ibom; Mr Isha Ehimeakne from Edo; Barr. Oluwatoyin Babalola from Ekiti; Mr Abubakar Ahmed from Gombe; Shehu Wahab from Kwara, Aminu Idris from Nasarawa; and Mohammed Abubakar Sadiq from Niger.
It was gathered that the remaining three nominees were not present for screening.
Meanwhile, the Executive Director of YIAGA Africa, Samson Itodo, has kicked against the confirmation of seven out of the ten newly appointed Resident Electoral Commissioners (REC) for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by the Nigerian Senate.
Speaking on Channels Television, hours after the Senate cleared the nominees; Itodo alleged that some of those confirmed had political affiliations.
