Saba donates  to Patigi boat tragedy victims’ families

A member of the House of Representatives for Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency, Hon. Ahmed Adamu Saba, has commiserated with the victims of boat mishap in Egbu community of Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Saba, during his condolence visit to the families of the victims, donated N500,000 as his own support to them in their trying time.

About 107 passengers died in the tragic incident while 144 people were reportedly rescued.

The legislator, who is a renowned rice farmer, described the incident as a National tragedy, saying that he was devastated after he was inundated with the reports of the mishap.

He noted that in spite of the danger they are exposed to, the people of riverine communities have cultivated peaceful living.

Saba urged the federal government to come to the aid of the survivors and families of victims with provision of life jackets for passengers plying waterways in Kwara.

The legislator promised to work with relevant government agencies to improve on the standard of waterway transport in the area to forestall future occurrence.

Saba, during the visit, paid homage to Etsu Patigi, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Bologi, and proceeded to Kpada and Doro in Patigi local government area to sympathize with families and communities affected as a result of the incident.

In another development, the legislator visited Shonga Power Sub-station in Edu Local Government Area of the state, promising to seek legislative partnership with the federal government to ensure projects in his constituency are completed during his tenure in the National Assembly.

According to him, Khouga Energy is handling the power project, and expected to serve Edu, Moro and Patigi Local Government Areas when completed.

Saba disclosed that his working visit to the project site was aimed at assessing the level of work done, keep regular update on the work and mobilize necessary budgetary support for the project.

The legislator assured the people that he would prioritize the completion of the project in the current 10th national Assembly.
