Following the meeting held between the Unions, Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress warning the federal government against going back on the wage award agreement intended to help mitigate the effects of the removal of subsidy on petroleum, Comrade Hussein Omotosho, as tagged the recent happenings in the market economy as a huge setback to Nigeria’s progress.
Comrade Omotosho, while speaking to RoyalTimes, stated that NLC and TUC leaders are indecisive in what they want exactly they want from the government, adding that if they keep doing things the same way, different results are not guaranteed.
He emphasized the importance of President Tinubu and the NLC President, Joe Ajaero working together towards the improvement of the market economy in Nigeria.
He further accused the Trade Unions for not putting a plan in place against the subsidy removal while emphasizing that asking for palliative from the government is not the way forward.
“Palliative is not anybody’s entitlement or right. It is a gift from the government and it can be withdrawn any time. So, asking for it now is not the next thing.”
While stating the backwardness of Nigeria in all aspects, he urged Nigerians to commend President Tinubu for his effort towards the progress of the country.
“Tinubu is not an opportunist. He really worked hard to be where he is today and we must commend him for the progress he’s making in the country.”
