The Super Eagles have moved up by two spots to 29 in the world in September 2020 FIFA rankings, while also retaining their third position in Africa.
This is the first time since May 2013 that the three-time African champions, will be placed in the top 30 in the FIFA rankings
The ranking table published on FIFA’s website on Thursday showed that Nigeria still has the 1493 points garnered November due to having not played any match, because of the pandemic.
Nigeria ranked third in Africa behind Senegal and Tunisia, who are placed 20th and 26th with 1555 and 1506 points respectively.
African champions Algeria are fourth, while Morocco, Ghana, Egypt, Cameroon, Mali and DR Congo make the top 10 teams on the continent.
Also, the Super Falcons moved a place up in the new FIFA rankings to 38th position in the world, while maintaining their first position in Africa with 1614 points.
The top four remains unchanged with Belgium remaining number, while world champions France, Brazil, England retain their second, third and fourth positions; with Portugal moving to places up to 5th dropping Uruguay down to 6th.
There are also position changes in the top ten, with Spain (seventh, up one), Croatia (eighth, down two) with Argentina and Columbia rounding it up.
