The residents of Kwara State have urged the Federal government to allow the continuous use of both the old and new naira notes.
It could be recalled that the Supreme Court ordered that the old N200, N500, and N1,000 notes should remain in circulation till December 31st, 2023.
As the December 31st deadline approaches, individuals in Kwara State have expressed their views on the matter. Ibrahim, a driver, believes that the new naira notes have not been adequately circulated yet and believes that the old note should not be eradicated just yet.
Kofoworola, a POS attendant, shared the sentiment that both the old and new naira notes can coexist and be used simultaneously, rather than transitioning entirely to the new notes.
Anuoluwaapo, in her statement, suggested that a complete shift to using the new naira notes might prove challenging.
Despite these opinions, the directive to discontinue the use of the old naira notes by December 31, 2023, still remains in effect.
