The Kwara State Police Command has stated its commitment to restore peace and security in the state in the wake of recent incidents believed to have been orchestrated by suspected cultists, and has resulted in three deaths.
In a statement released on Monday and signed by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, residents of Idi-Ape, Gambari, Babooko, and Surulere have been reassured that the police have embarked on a series of proactive measures to address the situation.
According to the statement, the Kwara State Police Command has initiated aggressive raids of black spots, stop-and-search operations, and enforced a clampdown on motorcycles and tricycles operating outside the legal hours, which are restricted to between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. daily.
The State Police Command however, advised residents to steer clear of areas notorious for the activities of these groups while warning emphatically against becoming instruments of chaos in society.
