The Kwara State House of Assembly has urged the State Government to intensify efforts against the outbreak of diphtheria disease in the state
This followed a Matter of General Public Importance raised by House Leader, Barrister Magaji Oba-Abdulkadir titled Need for State Government to ensure surveillance against the outbreak of diphtheria in the state during today’s plenary.
Barrister Oba-Abdulkadir described diphtheria as a serious infection in the nose and throats and called for adequate vaccination to insulate the citizens against the disease.
Reading the resolutions, Speaker, Engineer Yakubu Danlad-Salihu urged the state government to improve surveillance against the disease and tasked the State Ministry of Health work out modality to fight the outbreak
Engineer Salihu alerted State Ministry of Communications to embark on sensitization to educate the citizens on the need to be cautious to guard against the spread of Diphtheria.
