The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Muhammad Ali Pate, has charged hospitals in the country to prioritise saving lives above any other thing.
Pate said this in the wake of outcries for hospitals demanding police reports from gunshot and accident victims before the commencement of treatment, which has led to the death of many of such victims.
Speaking on Wednesday, Pate said that the Federal Government has issued a directive to hospitals to always save lives first before making any other demands.
The Health Minister also said that it is expected that states across the nation will follow up with the Federal Government’s directive in their various hospitals before reiterating that private hospitals also have the obligation to follow the same directive, as saving lives comes first everywhere for health practitioners.
