Amazon has faced a setback as the European Union’s top court ruled against suspending a requirement regarding its online advertising under EU tech regulations.
The ruling, which supports EU regulators, emphasizes that European interests outweigh the material interests of the U.S. online retail giant.
Under the Digital Services Act (DSA), Amazon was categorized as a very large online platform, subjecting it to stringent regulations aimed at combating illegal and harmful content on its platform.
While acknowledging Amazon’s concerns regarding its fundamental rights and business operations, the court prioritized the EU legislature’s interests in safeguarding digital market integrity.
