The Central Bank of Nigeria has said that it has no plan to convert domiciliary account holdings into naira.
The apex bank said this in a statement signed by its Acting spokesperson, Sidi Ali, on Saturday, adding that it was working hard to stabilise the foreign exchange market “as evidenced by its recent work and policy directions.”
The apex bank assured Nigerians that it was working to build the confidence of citizens in the economy and would not take steps to undermine the currency and the economy.
The CBN added that “the bank is the only designated authority for monetary policy changes and will always advise on any policy change before they are brought into operation, noting that it is always open to answer questions about its policies.
