In a thrilling showdown at the Indoor Sports Hall of Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, Egypt emerged victorious over host nation Nigeria in the final of the 2023 Girl’s U17 African Nations Volleyball Championship, securing qualification for the 2024 FIVB U17 Girls’ World Championship.
The clash showcased exceptional talent and determination from both sides, with Egypt prevailing in a hard-fought battle, claiming a 3-1 victory (25-21, 20-25, 25-22, 25-21).
Egypt’s journey to the championship was marked by resilience and skill, as they navigated past formidable opponents, including Nigeria and Cameroon.
The North African team dominated the competition, winning all three of their matches. After defeating Nigeria in the initial encounter, Egypt secured a hard-fought victory against Cameroon (3-2) in their second game, earning their place in the championship final.
In the final match, the Nigerian U17 girls aimed to avenge their earlier loss to Egypt, buoyed by passionate home support. However, the Egyptians started the game on a high note, displaying remarkable velocity and securing crucial points against the host team.
