The Nigeria Professional Football League has slammed Rangers and Abia Warriors with heavy fines following violent conduct during the clash between both teams on Sunday.
Abia Warriors have been hit with a staggering 4 million Naira fine by the NPFL board, stemming from the club officials preventing Rangers from accessing the pitch before the game, leading to violent scenes.
Meanwhile, the league board has fined Rangers FC one million Naira due to their violent reaction to the alleged provocation by Abia Warriors, and both clubs must now identify the officials responsible for the misconduct, facing additional sanctions if they fail to do so.
Rangers and Abia Warriors also have a 48-hour window to appeal the hefty fines, with a stark warning of even more severe repercussions if a similar incident occurs in the future.
