The Kwara State House of Assembly has called on State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development to always ensure strict adherence to guidelines in establishing private Nursery and Primary Schools in the State
This followed a Matter of General Public Importance raised by the lawmaker representing Kaiama-Kemanje-Wojibe Constituency, Abdullah DANBABA during today’s plenary
Mr Danbaba expressed displeasure over unpleasant structures of some private Nursery and Primary Schools endangering the lives of the pupils
He tasked authorities concerned to develop a minimum standard for private ownership of Nursery and Primary to checkmate proliferation of sub-standard schools.
As reported by our correspondent Olarotimi Oshin, some lawmakers in their contributions, Felix Awodiji representing Irepodun Constituency and Mr John Bello lamented over the environment of some private schools and suggested prosecution of proprietors found culpable of not following laid down rules and regulations.
The Speaker of the House -Engineer Yakubu Salihu urged proprietors of private Nursery and Primary Schools not to downplay requirements of school establishment to ensure quality education.
