The rescheduled match between Bendel Insurance and Enugu Rangers failed to hold on Wednesday, as officials failed to show up for the game scheduled at the University of Benin sports complex.
Fans of the Benin Arsenal, who arrived in their numbers, waited endlessly for match officials to come out of the dressing room for the game to commence. But they were disappointed when they learnt that there was no official from the League Management Company to officiate the match.
While speaking with news men in Benin, the Media Officer of Insurance, Kehinde Osagiede, said it is sad that the referees abandoned the game without informing the home club of their decision.
A search on the Facebook page of the League Management Company only showed the match being listed, without names of officials assigned for the match. Efforts made to speak with players and officials of Rangers proved abortive as they made straight for their bus and left in disappointment.
