A Professor of Islamic Studies at the University of Ilorin, Badmas Lanre Yusuf, has warned Muslim faithful against obtaining loans from banks to procure rams for the celebration of the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir festivities.
Yusuf said the servants of the Almighty Allah are not obliged to slaughter rams during the festivities when don’t have the wherewithal.
The Professor of Islamic Studies stated this today in his Juma’ah sermon delivered at Hilal Crescent Mosque, Offa Road, GRA, Ilorin.
Yusuf, a former Dean of Postgraduate School, University of Ilorin, admonished Muslim faithful to avoid indebtedness under the guise of buying and slaughtering rams for sacrifice.
Describing the Eid-el-Kabir as a festival of sacrifice, the University Don cautioned Muslims against procuring animals that are terribly weak in form of sacrifice during the festivities. The erstwhile Dean of Unilorin Postgraduate School, who noted that Eid-el-Kabir festival rams are not for barbeque, urged the faithful to share part of the slaughtered rams with members of their households and friends.
