Nigeria’s Super Falcons have clinched a spot in the final round of qualifiers for the women’s football event at the 2024 Olympics following a hard-fought victory over Cameroon.
The Falcons defeated Cameroon 1-0 on aggregate in the third round of qualifiers for the quadrennial games.
In a tightly contested match, the Falcons managed a goalless draw at the in Douala on Friday. However, they sealed the crucial win against Cameroon with an early goal from Esther Okoronkwo at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Monday.
Despite Cameroon’s relentless push forward in search of an equalizer to turn the tide in their favor, Nigeria’s goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie made several crucial saves to preserve the Falcons’ lead.
With this victory, the Super Falcons have advanced to the final round of qualifiers, where they will face either Tanzania or South Africa.
