In a crucial directive, Sports Development Minister John Owan Enoh has charged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, to secure victory in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Concerned about the Super Eagles’ recent lackluster performances, particularly in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers where they drew with Lesotho and Zimbabwe, Minister Enoh emphasized the nation’s passion for football, stating that Nigerians are eagerly anticipating an AFCON win after a decade of waiting.
Speaking during a meeting in Abuja to discuss strategic plans and preparations for the AFCON, Enoh highlighted football’s significance in the country, noting it as the only sport with a dedicated entry in the national budget.
He also reassured the Federal Government’s unwavering support for Nigerian football, highlighting the need for meticulous planning and unified strategies to propel the national team to victory.
