Qatar has reportedly reversed its earlier decision and announced its willingness to host the business and investment forum proposed by President Bola Tinubu during his upcoming visit to the Arab country on March 2, 2024.
The initial decision by Qatar to decline hosting the investment forum had stirred controversy after a leaked memo surfaced on Saturday. The memo cited the unavailability of Mohammed Bin Hamad Al-Thani, the country’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, as the reason for the refusal.
Adding to the confusion, the Embassy of Qatar in Abuja had previously stated that there was no formal agreement between Qatar and Nigeria regarding the proposed investment forum.
However, in a surprising turn of events, Qatar has now reportedly made a U-turn on its decision. The country has confirmed that the business forum will indeed take place as initially proposed by Nigeria.
