In a solemn Palm Sunday mass at Saint Peter’s Square, Pope Francis sent heartfelt prayers to the victims of the recent concert hall attack in Moscow, denouncing the violence as “inhuman acts” that offend God.
Addressing the crowd of approximately 25,000 people, the 87-year-old pontiff expressed his solidarity with the victims and their families, urging for divine comfort and peace during this difficult time.
Despite his frail voice and weakened state, Pope Francis appeared resolute as he presided over the Palm Sunday Mass. While he did not deliver his homily as planned, he conveyed his message of compassion and empathy to the faithful gathered in the square.
“I assure you my prayers for the victims of the cowardly terrorist attack carried out the other evening in Moscow,” said the 87-year-old pope, following a Palm Sunday mass in Saint Peter’s Square.”
“May the Lord welcome them in his peace and comfort their families, and convert the hearts of those… who organize and carry out these inhuman actions which offend God, who commanded ‘Thou shalt not kill,” he said.
