The chairman of the Palestinian Commission of Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs has said that the current winter is the harshest for Palestinian prisoners due to the measures imposed since October 7.
In a statement released on the Telegram page of the Palestinian government agency, Qadura Fares said weather conditions have turned into a difficult and harsh means of punishment as the temperatures dropped in winter.
The chairman also said the cold weather has affected the bodies of prisoners and caused seasonal diseases to spread among them stressing that prisoners generally have one piece of clothing to wear, and very light mattresses and covers that are not effective. He added that the conditions made them prey for the winter conditions.
Fares called on international human rights and humanitarian organizations to work to improve the conditions of prisoners.
