In preparation for the forthcoming local government elections in Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde has declared Friday, April 26, 2024, a half-working day for all public and civil servants in the state.
As reported by Tribune, this decision aims to facilitate the participation of government employees in the electoral process scheduled for Saturday, April 27, 2024.
According to the statement, government offices will close by noon on Friday, allowing personnel to engage in pre-election activities and make necessary preparations for voting the following day.
In a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Suleiman Olanrewaju, employees responsible for essential services are expected to remain at their duty posts to ensure uninterrupted operations.
The State Independent Electoral Commission had previously set Saturday, April 27, 2024, as the date for the local government elections in Oyo State.
