Nigerian Meteorological Agency Predicts Dust Haze, Thunderstorms in Kwara, Kogi, Others

written by Royal Times of Nigeria October 9, 2023

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has issued a weather forecast indicating the likelihood of dust haze and thunderstorms from Monday to Wednesday across the nation.

This was contained in its Weather Outlook report released on Monday, in which  the agency predicted dust haze with a visibility range of one kilometres to three kilometres and localised visibility of less than or equal to one thousand metres was anticipated over the northern region on Monday.

In the North Central states, visibility values are expected to range between two kilometres to five kilometres due to suspended dust, with thunderstorms predicted in various regions, including the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Niger, Kogi, Kwara, Plateau, and Benue states during the afternoon and evening while thunderstorms are expected during the morning hours in the southern states.

The agency added that moderate to heavy rainfall can lead to flash floods and advised the public to take necessary caution, and avoid driving and walking through floods.
