The Nigeria U20 Women’s national team, the Falconets, secured a crucial victory over their hosts, Burundi, in the first leg of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifier.
The match took place at the Azam Stadium Complex in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on Sunday.
The Falconets dominated the game, showcasing their prowess on the field. The breakthrough came in the first half when striker Janet Akekoromowei, playing for Asisat Oshoala Academy in Lagos, netted a penalty goal, earning Nigeria the full three points in their away match.
