South African rap star, Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo, popularly known as Nasty C, has revealed he was inspired by a number of Nigerian rappers, as well as Ghanaian rapper Sakordie.
In a podcast interview with Afrozons, the 26-year-old admitted the Nigerian and Ghanain rappers in the genre who inspired him. He shared that he drew inspiration from rap artists in his home country, such as the late AKA and Cassper Nyovest.
In his words, “My pioneers for hip-hop in Africa in no order are M.I, Sakordie, Olamide, Phyno, AKA, Cassper [Nyovest], Naeto C… There’s so many.”
The rapper who recently released a new studio album titled “I Love It Here” is one of the most commercially successful rappers on the continent.
Among the Nigerian artists he has collaborated with over time include Burna Boy, Runtown and Davido.
