In a bid to ensure participatory budgeting approach for accelerated socio-economic and infrastructural development, the Kwara State Government commenced the 2024 Citizens’ Engagement in budgetary process geared towards harvesting the views and opinions of the people.
The Honourable Commissioner for Planning and Economic Development, Hon. Lafia Aliyu Kora Sabi, while addressing the people of Kwara North Senatorial District in Patigi, disclosed that both the citizens and the Civil Society organizations play vital roles in articulating the needs of the people as they are aware of the people’s need at the grassroots level.
Meanwhile, the State Director for Budget, Alhaji Shamsideen Aregbe, in his presentation on budget performance for the Financial Year 2022, stated that Kwara State Government recorded seventy-seven percent budget performance which was one of the best in recent times.
In his remark, the member representing Patigi Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly and the Vice Chairman, Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Kareem Ndamusa, appreciated the initiative of the government to ensure citizens are engaged before budget preparation which, according to him will ensure a more robust and people-center budget for the year.
