Group Urges Youth to Seek Self Employment Opportunities

Group Urges Youth to Seek Self Employment Opportunities

Amid the high rate of unemployment amidst Nigeria youth, Nigerian youths have been encouraged to create opportunities and not rely on the government alone for Job opportunities.

The Editorial and Publicity community development group of the National Youth service corps in Kwara state raised the campaign during a lecture themed “Identify Opportunities” to seek for self employment opportunities.

Abosede Hannah, one of the speakers, while speaking with Royal Fm correspondent Opeyemi Akeredolu urged the youth to create opportunities themselves and not rely on the government alone adding that they should be valuable and be good at whatever they do.

‘‘I will urge youth to try create opportunity for themselves, they should  made do of the opportunities around them. Be good in whatever you are doing, try to be best at it. And they will see doors of opportunity opening for them, and they should also  let people around them know what they are doing and they might even help growing  it. No, we don’t have to wait for the Government, create that  opportunity for yourself’’.

Also speaking, Arojo Towo, a graduate of mass communication stated that youth should try to acquire skills that can sustain them and their family.

‘‘We should stop blaming the government all the time for not being able to create employment for graduates. Gone are those days when that employment wait for you while you are still in school or why you are serving.  And it’s not that there is no employment anywhere or maybe there is no employment in Nigeria, but getting employed now is kind of scarce and then employment is now limited. So because of that you should not wait for any vacancy anywhere before you get employed. You have to get yourself fixed with a skill and learn something that is legal. At least with that you’ll be able to feed yourself and your family’’.
