A Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin on Friday sentenced a 31-year-old student of the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Bashiru Azeez, to six months imprisonment over nine thousand eight hundred and ninety-one dollars ($9,891) fraud.
Justice Adebayo Yusuf passed the judgement while ruling on a fraud case instituted by the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Bashiru who is from Oyan in the Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State is a student of Marketing of the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.
Reports received added that the accused pleaded guilty to the charge. Following his plea, counsel to the EFCC, Sesan Ola, reviewed the facts of the case through a witness who is an operative of the commission.
Justice Yusuf, in his judgment, sentenced the defendant to six months imprisonment with two hundred thousand naira (N200,000) as option of fine.
The judge also ordered the forfeiture of the convict’s car, one iPhone XR, and HP laptop to the Federal Government.
