A Federal High Court in Sokoto has dismissed a suit filed by former Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, regarding the ownership of state-owned vehicles that he took away upon leaving office in May 2023.
RoyalTimes reports that the court has ordered the return of the vehicles, rejecting Matawalle’s claims.
In June, the police executed an order to take possession of the vehicles from houses belonging to Matawalle. The court’s decision was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday by Sulaiman Bala Idris, the spokesperson for the current governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal.
The statement revealed that the Federal High Court in Sokoto rejected Matawalle’s claims over the ownership of the vehicles, emphasizing that the former governor and his cabinet members had taken away all official vehicles, leaving the current administration without proper resources.
