China’s jet comes dangerously close to US bomber over South China Sea: US

written by Royal Times of Nigeria October 27, 2023

The United States military disclosed that a Chinese fighter jet has come within three metres of a US B-52 bomber while flying over the South China Sea with Beijing blaming Washington for the incident.

According to a US Indo-Pacific Command, the move almost caused an accident, underscoring the potential for a mishap at a time when both countries are competing for influence in the region.

The US Indo-Pacific Command further stated that the Shenyang J-11 twin-engine fighter jet, in the night intercept, came closed on the US plane at an “uncontrolled excessive speed, flying below, in front of, and within 10 feet of the B-52, putting both aircraft in danger of a collision.
