Nadeem Anjarawalla, a senior executive at Binance, who had been on the run since his escape from custody in Nigeria on March 22, has been arrested by the Kenya Police Service.
it was reported that Anjarawalla’s escape sparked an international manhunt, with indications that INTERPOL had been actively pursuing his apprehension and extradition to Nigeria.
“Binance executive, Nadeem Anjarwalla, has been arrested by the Kenya Police Service, and he would be extradited to Nigeria this week by INTERPOL.”
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Nigeria disclosed on Monday that Anjarawalla’s arrest in Kenya was the result of collaborative efforts between the Kenya Police Service and intelligence provided by INTERPOL. Nigeria has initiated discussions with INTERPOL regarding the extradition of Anjarawalla back to the country.
“As we had said before that Anjarwalla would be extradited, he has been arrested in Kenya, and he’ll be extradited to Nigeria this week.”
Anjarawalla, along with Binance Holdings Limited and another executive, Tigran Gambaryan, faced a five-count charge including allegations of tax evasion, currency speculation, and money laundering. The charges stem from the activities of Binance Holdings Limited, a prominent cryptocurrency exchange platform.
