The Nigerian Army has taken decisive action by arresting a soldier who criticized Lagos State Governor, Babjide Sanwo-Olu, in a viral video.
The soldier’s condemnation was prompted by the governor’s order to apprehend an army personnel and an okada rider caught driving against traffic in the state.
Chief of Army Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja, confirmed the arrest while withholding the identity of the soldier in question. Lagbaja emphasized that the conduct exhibited by the soldier driving against traffic did not align with the values upheld by the Nigerian Army.
As reported by Leadership, the incident leading to the soldier’s arrest occurred on January 2, 2023, when Governor Sanwo-Olu encountered a soldier driving against traffic on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
Addressing the situation, Lagbaja clarified that most videos circulating on social media were fabricated. He mentioned that the Army thoroughly investigated only one authentic video, leading to the identification and arrest of the involved soldier.
