As part of efforts to improve the livelihood of Kwara resident particularly the gambari community, the Gambari Academics Forum has set out strategies to promote the academic development of youths in academic particularly girl child.
Speaking at the official off ceremony and annual general meeting of Gambari Academics’ Forum, the Chairman of the Forum , Professor Mubaraq sanni said the aim of the Forum is to foster mutual beneficial relationship between the community and academia, to enhance growth of community members , promote community based research initiative.
The aim also includes to promote mentorship , initiate scholarship for community members among others which according to him will focus and medicine , nursing and engineering.
According to him, the Forum will facilitate the establishment of Gambari education resource centre for community members to access academic resources, vocational training, Sanni noted that the Forum has instituted the setting up of education trust fund to manage and over the fund realised.
Also speaking at the event, the chairperson of the event, associate professor and acting dean faculty of nursing and Allie health sciences , university of Abuja Dr Khadija toyin Musah said the major focus of the even is girl child education. She lamented that the number of Gambari girl in education is low.
Also in his paper , the guest lecturer, Dr Abdul Jimoh Muhammed , rector , Kwara state polytechnic called on rich Gambarians and philanthropists to fund the project.
