The National Identity Management Commission, NIMC, has reiterated that citizens’ data is safe and secure in Nigeria’s National Identity Database.
The Director General of NIMC, Abisoye Coker-Odusote disclosed this in a statement on Sunday by the Commission’s head Corporate Communications, Kayode Adegoke, as the commission ordered for a comprehensive investigation into an alleged citizens’ data breach by XpressVerify.
The Commission clarified that XpressVerify is not one of the Commission’s licensed partners for NIN verification services.
Coker-Odusote has promptly ordered a comprehensive investigation into the matter to find out if any of the Commission’s Tokenisation verification agents has in any way breach the licensing agreement either directly or through any of their sub-licensees.
