Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to youth inclusion during the Kwara Youths Symposium held in Ilorin on Monday.
Stressing the importance of creating an enabling environment for the youth to realize their potential, the Governor expressed a commitment to supporting the aspirations of the young population.
The event, organized by the State Ministry of Youth Development, centered around the theme “The Legacy and Ideology of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq: A Model for Youth Inclusion and Empowerment in Nigeria.” Distinguished guests, including cabinet members, academics, and successful entrepreneurs, participated in the symposium.
Represented by the Speaker of the Kwara House of Assembly, Rt Hon Yakubu Salihu Danladi, Governor AbdulRazaq emphasized the need to build the capacity of the youth and engage them in leadership tasks from an early stage.
He acknowledged the achievements of the youth in both governance and the corporate world, urging continued support for their dreams.
The event featured a panel session where participants lauded the business and youth-friendly policies of the government. Suggestions were also provided for the proposed Kwara Youth Policy.
In his address, Hon. Usman Yunusa-Lade, the supervising Commissioner for Youth Development, highlighted the administration’s dedication to empowering Kwara youths and creating a conducive environment for their success.
He thanked Governor AbdulRazaq for providing essential support to the youth and involving them in decision-making processes.
Prof Farooq Kperogi, in his presentation on “Youth Inclusion in Governance: Bridging the Gap,” commended Governor AbdulRazaq for championing the cause of youth inclusion in governance.
He expressed concern about the underrepresentation of youth in leadership positions despite Nigeria being predominantly young.
