Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said Tuesday a truce agreement with Israel was in sight, raising hopes that dozens of the hundreds of people taken hostage in the terror group’s devastating October 7 attacks could be released.
According to a statement by Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas officials were close to reaching a truce agreement with Israel as the group delivered its response to Qatari mediators.
However, a Hamas official reported that negotiations were centered on how long the truce would last, arrangements for delivery of aid into Gaza, and the exchange of Israeli hostages held by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners in Israel.
