An unidentified middle-aged man was on Tuesday evening recovered dead by the emergency personnel of the Kwara State Fire Service after jumping and drowning in the Asa river in Isale Asa, Aminlengbe in Ilorin East Local Government.
According to a statement signed and made available to newsmen by the Media and Publicity of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, the man believed to be in his early-forties was recovered after the Service responded to the distress call at around 5:08pm and the body was handed over to a team of police officers from the A” Division of the Nigeria Police Force in Ilorin.
Adekunle also revealed that while the body remains in the custody of the Police, an investigation has been launched into the incident.
The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John emphasized the importance of safety and again urged the general public to remain vigilant at all times.
