The Lagos State Government on Tuesday sealed churches, bars, night clubs, event centres and other establishments located in Lagos Island, Ojudu, Ogba, Magodo, and Ikosi areas of the state over noise pollution.
This was confirmed by photographs posted on social media by the office of the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab which showed some of the affected establishments.
According to Wahab, the sealing of the establishments was carried out by the officials of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) in what was described as an enforcement operation.
Wahab added that the agency advocates strict adherence to the recommended sound levels in establishments, including religious centres, nightclubs, bars, and events centers in its combat against noise pollution.
The post reads: “The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) officials conducted an enforcement operation, which resulted in the closure and sealing off of specific establishments in areas including Lagos Island, Ojudu, Ogba, Magodo, and Ikosi, all due to concerns regarding noise pollution.
“Let’s Stand United Against Noise Pollution! To combat noise pollution, LASEPA advocates strict adherence to the recommended sound levels in establishments, including religious centres, nightclubs, bars, and events centers.”
