As part of efforts to end the menace of cultism and other vices in various communities through its national and invigorated police campaign against cultism and other vices, the Kwara state police command today launched a campaign against cultism and other vices.
Speaking at the event with the theme ” Cultism: A menace and threat to education and economy, the commissioner of police, Paul ODAMA said the campaign is aimed at countering the dangerous narratives of cultism and other vices in order to make society and community safe as well as saving youth.
The commissioner called on stakeholders to join hands together in fighting the menace in the state.
On his part, the Chairman of the Occasion, and founder of Alhikmah University, Chief Abdulraheem Oladimeji represented by Professor Lateef Oladimeji who commended the Nigeria police called on parents to be vigilant on how their children use the internet, saying students learn a lot of atrocities on the internet.
In her lecture, the guest speaker at the event, Dr (Mrs) Saudat Salah Abdulbaqi appealed to secondary school students and students in higher institutions to shun bad friends, be content and remain optimistic for a better future rather than taking shortcuts.
As reported by our correspondent, Olarotimi Oshin, the guest speaker also called on parents to monitor their children in order to have good returns on the huge investment made on them, noting that cultism remains a great killer to societies.
