The Kaduna State Government has earmarked twenty-two-point-nine billion naira for the state’s education sector, a sum that represents twenty-eight-point-one per cent of the eighty-one-point-six billion naira supplementary budget recently passed by the state’s House of Assembly.
In a document obtained by newsmen containing a breakdown of the supplementary budget today in Kaduna, twenty-two-point-nine billion naira was allocated to the education sector and fourteen billion naira to the state’s Universal Basic Education Board to improve infrastructure, access and learning outcomes in basic schools.
The budget showed that the Ministry of Education and the Kaduna State University got four-point zero billion naira and four-point-one billion naira respectively, while one-hundred-and-fourty-seven- point-two million naira was earmarked for the state’s Library Board.
Additionally, the Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic, Zaria, got four-hundred-and-ninety-two- point-six million naira and Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya, got one-hundred-and-ten-point- eight million naira.
The eighty-one-point-six billion naira supplementary budget, in addition to the one-hundred-and-fifty-seven- point-four billion naira which had earlier been approved for 2019, brings the budget size to two-hundred-and-thirty-nine billion naira for the 2019 fiscal year.
