Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh, recently disclosed that Nigeria will begin to export yam to other parts of the world beginning from today.
According to Ogbeh, this will serve as possible means of economic diversification and also as a way of generating foreign exchange.
The launch of the export programme is currently happening in Lagos at the Lillypond Container Terminal in Ijora. It has in attendance, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh, MD, Nigeria Ports Authority, Hadiza Bala Usman and National Export Promotion Commission’s Mr. Segun Awolowo.
Mrs Bala Usman , at the event, expressed her excitement at the fact that Nigeria, the largest yam producer is taking its rightful place in the export market.
