In Kwara state, Dignitaries across the country, industrialists, companies and organisations on Wednesday joined sons and daughters of the Ilorin Emirate at the frontage of the Emir of Ilorin palace to celebrate the Ilorin Emirate Grand Durbar in a thrills and frills grand styles.

The programme which was attended by thousands of people who filled the frontage of Emir’s palace as the surrounding to the brim saw sons and daughters of the Emirate as well as invited guests and well wishers arriving the Emir’s palace to witness the ceremony as early as seven O’clock this morning defying the early morning rain.
To guard against any security beach, stern looking security operatives were seen providing water tight security at the grand Durbar ceremony.
In the major highlight of the ceremony, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari led all the Baloguns, Magagis, traditional title holders, Alanguas and District heads in the horse ride from his Palace to Baboko-General roundabout, Ibrahim Taiwo road to Emirs road and back to his palace.
Some eminent personalities and residents of the state in a chat during the royal FM said revival of the traditional event will not only help to strenghten the people’s bond, but also open doors for tourist into Kwara and position the state in an enviably symbolic position.
