Gombe first lady flags-off medical outreach,  offers medical care to women, children

 

 

In a bid to complement the state government’s efforts at improving health care service delivery among women and children across communities, Jewel care foundation, a brain child of Gombe state first lady, Hajiya Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya, has organized a two-day medical outreach to provide succour to the most vulnerable in the state.

 

While launching the exercise at the Conference hall of the state Ministry of Women Affairs, Hajiya Asma’u Yahaya said her “foundation’s healthcare programme targets its activities at the grassroot level through community based projects that seek to empower women and children especially in the areas of basic primary healthcare, inclusive education, impact entrepreneurial skills and support for the less privileged”.

 

She said the two-day medical outreach organized in collaboration with Fidelity Bank plc covers different medical needs that include free cervical and breast cancer screening, cryotheraphy treatment which treats many skin infections, medical test on various ailments such as, blood pressure, diabetes, HIV counselling and mass deworming”.

 

Other services are health promotion, free supply of prescription drugs, school health programmes and free eye glasses.

 

She called on the residents to sanitize their environments considering the reported cases of yellow fever in the neighboring states to avert breeding of mosquitoes as well as spread of diseases among people.

 

Hajiya Asma’u said Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya attaches the highest premium to well being of the state citizenry.

The first lady said to avoid congestion in other medical facilities, the premises of Ministry of women affairs and social development will be used for the medical outreach pledging to provide all the desired support for the medical personnel to fully deliver any needed medical services to the people.

 

She urged persons with the underline ailments across the eleven LGAs to take advantage of the 2-day free medical outreach as an opportunity to know their health status so as to consolidate on further treatment.

 

Earlier in his remarks, the North East Regional Head, Fidelity Bank, Dr Musa Tarimbuka, represented by Gombe branch manager, Umar Bappi, said the synergy between the two bodies will be strengthened to further compliment Gombe state government’s effort of improving the lives of the citizenry.

 

The flagging-off ceremony was graced by community leaders, women groups and health workers.
