The Chairman of the Inter-party Advisory Council, IPAC, Wale Adebayo, has urged members of the National Assembly from Osun State to ensure the proper distribution of food palliatives to the people of the state.
Osun IPAC Secretary, Oluwatosin Odeyemi, in a statement on Monday in Osogbo disclosed that Adebayo said food palliative, which include bags of rice and other edible commodities, were given to all National Assembly members by President Tinubu during the yuletide period.
He said the intention behind the government’s palliative programmes was to assist the people who were struggling to afford basic necessities for their survival.
”We commend some few federal lawmakers that have done the needful at their constituencies by sharing what was given to each of them at the centre.
”The removal of subsidy on petroleum had affected people’s lives with families struggling to make ends meet and the government is trying to provide some relief,” Adebayo said.
Adebayo appealed to some federal lawmakers from Osun to urgently distribute the items at their disposal to members of their constituencies, adding that the palliatives should be distributed fairly and efficiently to ensure accountability.
”In some cases, palliatives have been found to be mismanaged or even stolen by corrupt officials and this is unacceptable and must be prevented,” he added.
