Ahead of the 2023 AFCON, Atlas Lions of Morocco coach Walid Regragui has said that Nigeria’s Super Eagles and other top African teams that did not feature at the Qatar 2022 World Cup will be a handful at next year’s AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire.
According to Regragui, teams like Nigeria, Algeria, Egypt, and Côte d’Ivoire who failed to be in Qatar will be dangerous in the 2023 AFCON.
Recall that Morocco made history at the 2022 World Cup by becoming the first African team to reach the semi-final in the history of the tournament.
Regragui also spoke about his side’s preparation for the tournament and the desire to go far.
The tactician, whose side reached the highest finish by any African side at the World Cup, claimed his side are no longer favorites going into the event in Côte d’Ivoire.
“We will prepare well. What matters is that we have the experience, whether it’s me or the staff. We played in Africa, we competed in these competitions,” he concluded
