About twenty-two thousand (ten kilogram) bags of rice were distributed on Saturday across three local government areas of Kwara State in the ongoing palliative distribution exercise.
According to a member of the palliative distribution committee, Mr. Stephen Awoyale, the distribution of the palliatives is based on the population of each local government area.
He added that the total population of Offa local government which has twelve wards is one hundred and forty-eight thousand, two hundred and seventeen. Therefore, seven hundred and seventy-three bags were shared across the wards, amounting to eight thousand, eight hundred bags in total.
Mr. Stephen further stated that Oyun local government estimated a population of one hundred and fifty-five thousand, seven hundred and eighty-six with eleven wards. It was gathered that 800 bags would be shared to the most vulnerable persons across the wards which comes to 8,800 bags in total.
Royaltimes gathered that in Ekiti Local Government, Mr. Stephen said the local government has an estimated population of ninety thousand, six hundred and fifty-nine with ten, noting that four hundred and forty bags were disbursed to the wards amounting to four thousand four hundred bags in total.
