The Kwara State Government has announced the commencement of its monthly sanitation exercise scheduled for Saturday, January 27, 2024. The Press Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, Yakub Kamaldeen, released a statement urging residents to actively participate in the exercise.
The sanitation exercise is set to take place from 7:00 am to 9:00 am, during which residents are expected to clean both residential and business environments. As part of the routine, there will be a suspension of vehicular and human movement across the state for the duration of the two-hour exercise.
To ensure compliance, security and monitoring agents will be stationed across the entire state. The presence of these officials aims to guarantee a smooth and effective execution of the sanitation program.
Additionally, Waste Management trucks will be deployed to facilitate the collection and proper disposal of waste at designated dump sites in the metropolis.
According to the statement, Residents are reminded that illegal dumping of refuse on pedestrian walkways, road dividers, drainages, canals, and other unauthorized sites is strictly prohibited. Authorities emphasize that such actions constitute an offense, and individuals found in violation will face appropriate legal consequences.
Furthermore, the statement warns against any attempt to obstruct government officials from carrying out their duties during the sanitation exercise. Such interference will be met with legal measures within the ambit of the law.
The Kwara State Government encourages full cooperation from the public to make this sanitation exercise a success, promoting a cleaner and healthier living environment for all residents.
